Dimitris Giakoulas

Dimitris Giakoulas is an Assistant Professor at the School of Political Science of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He holds a PhD from the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, with a focus on Foreign Direct Investment. He studied Political Science and Public Administration (Bachelor’s degree) and European and International Studies (Master’s degree) at the same department, and he has worked as a visiting PhD candidate/researcher with a scholarship at the London School of Economics. His research interests focus on Foreign Direct Investment and Multinational Enterprises, Economic Analysis, and International Political Economy. In this context, he has produced scientific papers published in reputable academic journals such as the International Business Review, as well as in collective volumes. He has taught courses in international economics, economic theory, international finance, economic development, economic history, and business economics at the University of Piraeus, the University of Thessaly, Panteion University, the Agricultural University, and the University of Patras. He has also participated as a researcher in numerous research programs, including the project “Greek Foreign Direct Investments and the Impact of the Institutional Framework as a Determinant Factor,” which was implemented by the University of Piraeus (2019-2021) and funded by the ESIF 2014-2020, as well as the “Very Small and Small Businesses and Urban Development (VeSBUD)” project, which is being implemented by Aristotle University of Thessaloniki from 2023 and funded by ELIDEK. Finally, since 2015, he has been a research associate at the Institute of Small Enterprises of GSEVEE, and in the past, he has collaborated with various consulting companies.
